John Lowrie Morrison OBE
Internationally renowned Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison OBE - Jolomo brings the colours and light the Scottish West Coast to London in the 16th Jolomo London Exhibition presented by Corrymella Scott Gallery.
This exhibition includes striking new pictures executed with strong, emotive colour and fluent brushwork depicting the exceptional changing light and colour of the west coast of Scotland including Argyll, Barra, Colonsay, Harris, Islay, Kintyre, Mull, Gigha, North and South Uist.
Jolomo continues the long established tradition of Scottish artists including the Scottish Colourists S.J. Peploe and F.C.B. Cadell who were drawn back year after year by the beauty and power of this landscape and found it a particular source of inspiration.
The Isle of Barra features strongly in John Lowrie Morrison's - Jolomo's latest solo exhibition Visions of the Scottish West Coast and it is a location he often revisits at different times of the year and in different light and colours as varied as the wildlife that thrives there.
John Lowrie Morrison's work is vibrant, energetic and conveys a real sense of spontaneity and the sheer sense of joy is so characteristic of his work. "I let things happen in the painting, something is going on between the brain and the heart and the hand."
John Lowrie Morrison, the Scottish painter who signs himself 'Jolomo†lives and works on the west coast of Scotland. He paints in the expressionist style, his work features vivid, high key colour, is vibrant and conveys a real sense of spontaneity and the sheer sense of joy so characteristic of his work.
