For Nicholas Bellamy's first London Solo show he has created a new series of sculptural ceramic works for William Benington Gallery.
Working out of his studio in Torbay, Devon, Nicholas creates forms that seem to be caught in the process of transformation - organic masses growing and evolving or synaptic flashes reaching for a resolution. His sculptural ceramics are physical expressions of the artists desire to understand his own mind and by extension the existential anxieties that we all face.
More than therapy or catharsis through art his sculptures represent Nicholas' exploration of how we communicate our emotions and desires to one another and particularly what place, if any, that art and the artist can have in this process.
