A touring exhibition presented in collaboration with Bath Spa University, supported by the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust.

Previously known as the Jerwood Drawing Prize, the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is the new supporter and new identity following Jerwood Charitable Foundation’s final year of support in 2017.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is now the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK and has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence, and for promoting and celebrating the breadth of contemporary drawing practice. In offering emerging, mid-career and established artists a national platform to exhibit their work, the project has developed new insights into the role and value of drawing in creative practice today.

The exhibition includes a diverse selection of work that explores the nature, role and value of drawing in creative practice today. The shortlist of 69 drawings by 67 practitioners, ranging from works by students to those by established artists, were selected from 1,703 submissions received from across the UK. The independent selection panel comprised Nigel Hall RA, artist; Megan Piper, contemporary art dealer; and Chris Stephens, Director of the Holburne Museum in Bath. The annual exhibition is a unique initiative led by founding Director, Professor Anita Taylor. In offering emerging, mid-career and established artists a national platform to exhibit their drawings, the exhibition has established a reputation for supporting and promoting their talent and excellence, and the role and value of drawing more widely.
