Turner Prize” search engine art is a new series by
Los Angeles-based artist Gretchen Andrew where she pairs the British television baking show, “The Great British Bake Off” with the Turner Prize, the esteemed visual arts award. In this digital performance, Andrew has programmed images of her paintings to override search queries for the keywords “turner prize.” Viewers are invited to watch the trajectory of the series ascend Google searches where it will dominate results by September, in timing with the official opening of the Tate Prize 2019 exhibition and Andrew’s coordinating exhibition “Turner Prize” at The Cookhouse Gallery at Chelsea College of Arts (Sept. 27-Oct. 5)
