Dulwich Picture Gallery was England's first purpose-built public art gallery, opened in 1817. Designed by Sir John Soane, the building houses the collection of Sir Francis Bourgeois and Noel Desenfans, as well as their mausoleum.
Much of the collection is made up of European old master paintings, including Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Hogarth.
