Svalbard and UK Wilderness Paintings. 

The Svalbard Paintings started in 2009 when Louise visited her older son, Alex, who was a student at UNIS, Longyearbyen, Svalbard. On her visits to Longyearbyen she was struck by our manmade ability to be warm and safe in this frozen wilderness. 

Louise's paintings are a mixture of direct observation, emotional response and memory. Some of the paintings are started from iPad sketches which are developed as soon as she can after being in the landscape. Other paintings are developed from sketches, small paintings and photos she is able to make in the landscape.
