Private view Thursday 1st March 2018, 6-9pm.
Special thanks to OMNI COLOUR for production of the limited edition masks.
LUNGLEY Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by British artist David Harrison. The exhibition titled FUCK ME presents a unique insight into the artist’s distinctive style and oeuvre that includes painting, sculpture, video and sound work.
Harrison’s ‘glory hole’ sculptures take centre stage – manifest from cheap everyday materials such as toilet paper and Sellotape before decorating each piece with detritus recovered from the city.
The artist employs a free and playful disregard for modernist conventions, revelling in all that is odd, discarded or invisible giving new life into all that has been displaced from society and the mainstream in modern art, instead choosing to embrace age-old symbols and fanciful myth, irrational beliefs, and exuberant sexuality to name just a few in order to speak vividly about our own time and provide a different perspective on the disciplines of painting and sculpture.
Special thanks to Omni Colour for their help preparing and printing the limited edition masks, Dan Salmon and Paul Neesham for their technical assistance preparing the sound piece Ross, Jordan and W.K. Lyhne for their assistance filming the video. Thank you all.
