FOLD is pleased to present Something that isn’t a solo show by Benjamin Cohen – his first with the gallery.
Through experimentation with expanded notions of sculpture, painting, film and time- based media, as well as a continuous engagement in collaborative practices; Benjamin Cohen’s work consists of objects, films, photographs, sound and ‘structures’ which explore notions of architecture, topography, memory and ‘display’.
Something that isn’t comprises of a series of objects, structures and images that respond to, and have grown out of, the house where Cohen’s late Uncle resided. Taking this mausoleum-esque space as a site of investigation, the work in this show explores the ‘architecture of memory’; how we ‘shape’ inhabited spaces and how architecture may shape us in return.
